The Daily Rates Include:

  • Tax (VAT = 19.6%)
  • Comprehensive Insurance (see Insurance)
  • Guaranteed newer vehicle not older that two model years (2011 or 2012 models)
  • Unlimited mileage
  • Vehicle kit (water hose, jerrycan, electric cord, broom + dustpan, clothes hangers)
  • Cooking utensils
  • Tourist information (road maps, list of campgrounds, map of “Aires de services” [service areas])
  • Regional suggested itineraries (Brittany, Loire Valley…)
  • Outdoor cleaning after return

Trips overlapping seasons are charged in the appropriate seasonal rate for each day of travel. Special long term rental rates on request (35 days or more).

Minimum charge is 7 days.
Even if the motorhome is needed for a shorter period, we will charge 7 days.

Handling & Preparation Fee:
A Compulsory Handling Fee of €110 applies per rental. This includes your first bottles of Propane and Toilet Chemicals.

Snow Chains:
Snow chains will be available (on request) and the rate is : EUR 4 per day with a max EUR 80.

Optional Items
If applicable, Private Transfers / One Ways & International One Ways must be pre-paid

1. Private Transfers - (Paris only- other locations on request)
Must be requested at the time of booking or not later than 7 working days before pick- up date arrival details or hotel address and how many people are in customers party.

Due to too many last minute changes, only pre-paid transfers will be arranged.
Clients must provide a valid telephone number - preferably a Mobile, this will allow us to send a SMS of confirmation.
We will be unable to confirm a Transfer if we do not have a telephone number.
 
In the event a client who has pre-paid a transfer take a regular taxi or public transportation, there will not be any refund. Transfers must be confirmed at least 7 days in advance.

Transfers On Arrival Day
We can arrange transfers to our location from :

  • CDG and ORLY Airports
  • EUROSTAR Terminal (Paris Gare du Nord - Train Station)
  • Other Paris Train Stations
  • Paris Downtown hotels

- In case of airport transfers, we do need all flight details to arrange them : hour of arrival, flight number and departure place. (ex : Flight BA 308 from London - 12h 30 )

- In case of transfer from a Train Station, we do need all train details to arrange it : hour of arrival, train number and departure place. (ex : Eurostar 1212 from London - 08.55 )

- In case of transfer from a hotel, we do need hotel details (name, address and telephone)

Transfers are possible from 08:00 to 15:00. Due to potential traffic problems beyond our control, precise pick-up and departure times cannot be guaranteed.

Tranfer On Last Day
We can arrange a return transfer to a hotel, a train station or an airport
This Transfer can be Pre-Paid or Paid Locally. Transfer must be arranged with the client.

Transfer Cost

  • Transfer for up to 4 persons (from CDG or ORLY airports, Eurostar Paris Gare du Nord, Hotel…) EUR 90
  • Transfer for 5 persons (from CDG or ORLY airports, Eurostar Paris Gare du Nord, Hotel…) EUR 110
  • Transfer for 6 or 7 persons (from CDG or ORLY airports, Eurostar Paris Gare du Nord, Hotel…) EUR 130
  • Transfer for up to 4 persons with up to 4 bikes (regular taxis do not accept bikes) EUR 120
  • Transfer for 5 persons with up to 5 bikes (regular taxis do not accept bikes) EUR 150
  • Transfer for 6 or 7 persons with up to 6 bikes (regular taxis do not accept bikes) EUR 200

Other special transfers (such as clients with windsurf or special luggage) must be notified upon booking and will be charged accordingly.

Airport Meeting points :

  • CDG – Terminal 1 Exit Gate (just after the custom)
  • CDG – Terminal 2 Avis desk – “le boutiquaire” level
  • CDG – Terminal 3 Exit gate (just after the custom)
  • Orly Airport - Exit gate

CDW Insurance:
EUR 16 per day (minimum charge = EUR 112 / maximum = EUR 750) With the purchase of Collision Damage Waiver (CDW), the client’s responsibility is reduced from a maximum of EUR 3,000 to EUR 400 per occurrence. (see exclusions)

PAI - 24 Hour Breakdown Insurance
EUR 86 per day (to a maximum of EUR 300)
Assistance to passengers and vehicle in case of mechanical breakdown or non responsible accident. Towing costs, lodging (with a limit of EUR 38 per person per day), other transportation or repatriation to departure location are covered by this insurance. This is valid in countries listed in insurance green card.
Radio, air conditioning, refrigerator, propane-gas and 12 volt-appliances malfunctions are not considered to be mechanical breakdowns.

INSURANCE

Public Liability: (included in daily rate)
Public liability insurance protects AVIS CAR-AWAY for EUR 760,000 in case of fire or explosion. Public liability is unlimited in case of accident.

Basic Coverage: (included in daily rate)
All the drivers must be approved, be at least 23 years old and have already held a full domestic driver’s license for at least two years. International driving license is not mandatory. No charge for additional driver.

AVIS CAR-AWAY vehicles are insured against damage to vehicle from accident, fire, theft, vandalism and third part claim, subject to a EUR 3,000 excess clause. In the event of loss or damage to vehicle while on rental, the client’s responsibility is limited to a maximum of EUR 3,000 per occurrence. With the purchase of Collision Damage Waiver (CDW), the client’s responsibility is reduced from a maximum of EUR 3,000 to EUR 400 per occurrence.

This guarantee is effective in the majority of western countries : France, Austria, Switzerland, Belgium, Germany, Netherlands, Italy, Spain, Portugal, United Kingdom, Ireland, Luxembourg, Norway, Sweden, Finland & Denmark, Greece, Hungary, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Croatia, Poland, Slovenia, Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania. (Sept.-2010). Other countries on request.

Exclusions : Are not covered by our insurance, even with the purchase of CDW or PAI :

  • Damages due to frost
  • Damages to the interior of the vehicle
  • Radio, tires, wheels, side mirrors and all glass damages (windscreen, windows)
  • Theft of Personal belongings, or vandalism
  • Electronic devices provided by Avis Car-Away (GPS, TV, Antenna)

Note that with the purchase of CDW, in case of damage caused by striking overhead objects and from backing up vehicle, the customer's responsibility is NOT reduced from EUR 3000 to EUR 400.

Security Deposit:
You are required to leave a security deposit of EUR 3000 at the time of pick up, This can be left by credit card imprint: Visa, Mastercard or Amex (Not Processed)

Minimum Age and Drivers:
The minimum age is 23 years and you must have held a full drivers licence for a minimum of 2 years. An International drivers licence is not mandatory. There is no charge for an additional driver - maximum of 2 drivers per motorhome.

Maintenance and User Responsibility:
You are responsible for routine maintenance while traveling (coolant, oil, tire pressure) as well as reporting
mechanical failure immediately. Clients may be held responsible for mechanical damage due to negligence
on operation and/or in performing normal maintenance.

Substitution:
If, for any reason beyond our control, the reserved vehicle is not available, we reserve the right to substitute a model of similar or higher rated vehicle.

Travel Restrictions:
You are allowed to travel to the following countries (any countries not noted are on request): France, Austria, Switzerland, Belgium, Germany, Netherlands, Italy, Spain, Portugal, United Kingdom, Ireland, Luxembourg, Norway, Sweden, Finland & Denmark, Greece, Hungary, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Croatia, Poland, Slovenia, Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania. Travel to North Africa and some East Europe countries are not permitted.

No One Way between Continent and Corsica - Other One Ways are possible on request.

International One Way Rentals are only available from Paris depot on request. Minimum of 14 days rental. Dropoff points are flexible . Usually, it's at the airport but it can be at a hotel.

Prices are given as a guideline only, according to season, rates cost may vary a little.
International One Way charge will be re-confirmed for each rental. These are the most common destinations below - other destinations are possible, please Contact us for more information.

First Night Accommodation:
We strongly recommend our clients spend their first night in a hotel. (you may refer to our list of
" recommended hotels" )

Departure Formalities:
Pick-up time is between 09:00 and 11:00 or between 14:00 and 16:30.
Our depots are closed for lunch
NO DEPARTURE AFTER 16:30.

There is no refund if vehicle is picked up later than scheduled time.
Upon his arrival, the client should expect to :
- Show a valid driving license : domestic + international or domestic only
- Leave a security deposit (EUR 3,000) – credit card imprint VISA, MASTERCARD or AMEX not processed.
This is to ensure vehicle is returned on time, complete with all equipment and in undamaged condition.
- Watch a 10 mn video “How to operate your motorhome” (French or English).
A bilingual “Operator Manual” is given to our clients. The vehicle is then inspected by AVIS CAR-AWAY
and the renter who is asked to sign a “Departure contract”. The rental is thus open.

We provide free storage for luggage or other valuables (plane tickets…). Not for One-Way rentals.

Return Formalities:
Return time is between 09:00 and 12:00 or between 14:00 and 17:30.
Our depots are closed for lunch
NO RETURN AFTER 17:00.

Penalties are charged for late returns without prior authorization.
There is no refund if rental is terminated by client before scheduled time.
- Toilet must be clean and empty
- Waste water tank must be drained
- Interior of motorhome must be clean (especially refrigerator, stove and shower)
INDOOR CLEANING CHARGES (EUR 100) MAY APPLY IF VEHICLE IS RETURNED NOT CLEAN.
- Diesel tank must be full (as it was on departure)

The security deposit is returned provided that the motorhome is undamaged and clean.
The vehicle is inspected by AVIS CAR-AWAY and the renter who is asked to sign a “Return contract”. The
rental is thus closed.

Rentals are not calculated on a 24 hour basis but on a daily basis : pick up must be in the morning and drop-off must be before 04.00 PM. Both first and last days are charged. Arrangements are possible during mid and low season.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. How do I get to the rental location?
A. Usually our depots can be reached by public transports or more easily by taxi. Optional private transfers from designated areas can be arranged upon request.

Q. When can I pick up the vehicle?
A. Vehicle pick up is between 09.00 and 11.30 and 14.00 and 17:00 depending on vehicle readiness. Please allow 1-2 hours for pick up procedures.
Note that our offices are closed for lunch between 12.00 (or 12.30) and 14.00.
Depots are closed on Sundays and Public Holidays. Sunday can be requested for the Corsica depot.


Q. When must I return the vehicle?
A. Vehicle return time is between 09:00 and 11.30 and 14.00 and 17:00. Penalties are charged for late returns without prior authorization.
Note that our offices are closed for lunch between 12.00 (or 12.30) and 14.00.


Q. Is luggage storage available at the location?
A. Yes, luggage storage is available at all our locations. It's also possible to leave valuables such as flight tickets. Not applicable in case of One-Way rental.

Q. What kind of instruction will I be given about the vehicle?
A. You will receive a full orientation of the motorhome, including client's maintenance use and responsibility. Orientation consists of a video in English introducing general concepts of motorhome use as well as a personal instructional walk around of motorhome by a qualified instructor. Operator manual is provided for clients to take with them in English and French.

Q. Are grocery and other facilities available near the rental station?
A. Our location staff will be happy to provide you with this information.

Q. Are pets allowed in the motorhomes?
A. Yes, pets are allowed.

Q. Do I need an International Drivers License to travel in the France and Europe?
A. Do I need a special drivers license to drive a motorhome? A full resident country drivers licence, held for a least one year, is to be presented at the time of rental. So, generally your national license is enough. If the licence is not in English format, an international drivers licence is also required.No, you do not need any special drivers license to drive a motorhome.

Q. Is there a minimum / maximum age to drive the motorhomes?
A. The minimum age is 20 years. No maximum.

Q. Is there an additional charge for a second driver?
A. No, there is no extra charge for additional drivers. Maximum 2 drivers per vehicle.

Q. How many seatbelts are in the vehicles?
A. This can depend on the type of motorhome, but there is generally 2 in the front of the vehicle, and 2 at the dinette.

Q. Are motorhomes difficult to drive or slow to accelerate?
A. Modern motorhomes handle very much like a car and have enough power that they accelerate as quickly as many cars.

Q. Are motorhomes complicated to hook up to campsite facilities?
A. Connecting the motorhome to campsite facilities requires no technical expertise. You will receive instruction on these connections at the time of pick up.

Q. What type of fuel does a motorhome use?
A. All our motorhomes are powered by DIESEL engines.

Q. Do you have motorhomes with automatic transmission?
A. No, all our motorhomes have a manual transmission.

Q. What kind of power supply does a motorhome have?
A. The refrigerator, heater, water heater, stove and range operate on propane gas. The dash air conditioner is powered by the engine while driving and other items by an outside 230V power supply.

Q. What equipment is available?
A. Our motorhomes are equipped with :
  • 2 bottles of propane gas (one full, the other one half full)
  • 1 bottle of toilet chemicals
  • 1 fire extinguisher
  • 1 water hose
  • 1 jerrycan (20 liters)
  • 1 electric cord + European adapter
  • 1 broom + dustpan
  • 5 clothes hangers
  • 1 kit of spare fuses and bulbs
  • 1 bilingual User's Manual
  • 1 map of "Aires de Services" (service areas)
  • 6 plates, 6 dessert plates, 6 glasses, 6 bowls or mugs, 6 knives, 6 forks, 6 spoons, 6 tea spoons
  • 1 can opener, 1 corkscrew, 1 bottle opener
  • 1 frying pan, 2 sauce pans, 1 salad bowl, 1 platter, 1 strainer

Optional bedding kit includes blanket, sheets, pillow and pillow cases. Sorry but we do not have towels. Additionally there may be other items such as chairs, baby seats, etc. which may be rented depending upon availability.

Q. Can I travel to Eastern Europe?
A. Travel to Eastern Europe is limited to Poland, Hungary, Czech Rep., Slovakia, Estontia, Latvia, Lithuania, Croatia and Slovenia. Travel to other Eastern Europe countries is not permitted and not covered by insurance.

Q. Where can I stay in the motorhome?
A. There are approximately 3,000 campgrounds in the France. Sites can be found outside major cities, in rural areas, and near popular attractions. For any help, you may visit www.campingfrance.com or www.geotour.com/camping/and for campgrounds in Europe, visit www.francecamping.com or www.guidesusse.com It's also possible to stay in service areas (sanistations) www.eurocampingcar.com or www.france-passion.com

Q. What facilities will I find at campgrounds?
A. Campground facilities vary greatly dependant on many factors, however a partial list of facilities commonly found at many campgrounds would include: electric and water, washing machines and dryers, swimming pools, recreation rooms, playgrounds, and on-site convenience stores.

Q. How much can I expect to pay per night for a campsite?
A. Campground rates vary based upon time of year, facilities, and location. Based upon these criteria you can expect to pay between 15 € and 40 € per night.

Q. Is it necessary to make reservations for campsites at campgrounds?
A. In some seasons and at some locations it may be necessary to make advance reservations. This is especially true during high season travel and at very popular tourist destinations.

Q. Do you provide any campground or sanistation guides and or maps?
A. Yes we provide a detailed guide listing Aires de Services (Sanistations)

Q. Is it possible to camp in the wild?
A. Yes. However we do not recommend it for security reasons
